#OTD 560 years ago, Elizabeth Woodville was crowned queen of England in an elaborate coronation ceremony 👑 Little did she know her marriage to the king would end in the destruction of most of her family. As queen, she’d lose her father, two brothers, a son, & Edward IV himself

Some of the most beautiful Tom Denny tracery that I have seen; this in one of his two windows in Great Malvern Priory. Each composition seems like a miniature jewel, & what appears to be some original glass perfectly integrated. #TraceryTuesday Dan B 🦤⛪🎨🐦 🇺🇦 🇦🇫 #PlanetFirst Ragged Robin

85 years ago this week, the evacuation from Dunkirk occured. A window in Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral by Carl Edwards and Hugh Powell, 1955, remembers Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsey, who commanded the seaborne forces at Dunkirk and was later killed in action. 1/3

It's Ascension Day, commemorating the Christian belief of the bodily ascension of Jesus into heaven. Our MS Dd.4.17, a 14th-century Book of Hours probably made in the East Midlands, has a great image of Jesus' feet about to disappear into a cloud. #ascensionday

Not only has Bishop Benson's Truro Cathedral (John Loughborough Pearson) more spires (4) but also more rose windows (3) than any other English Cathedrals filled with Clayton & Bell glass of Creation, the Holy Spirit & 12 Apostles and a novel circular take on the Ancestors of Christ
