It bounces DIRECTLY off of his hat-covered face, causing him to peak an eye open and tip it up.. staring directly down at Gary. ".. oh, great."

"Yeah? Well, have you ever tried shutting your stu- whoooooAAAAH!" And down he tumbles from the tree, having raised his fist to shake it at Gary.. which caused him to take the tumble in the first place.
