Our Nui Markets European Dairy Marketplace clearly shows how butter is recovering from the bearish trend and making a strong comeback. €4375/MT FCA NL/BE/DE was traded for February and higher prices seem inevitable. Q2 reported at or above €4550/MT FCA. #nuimarkets #dairy

Dutch officials have identified a single case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly known as "mad cow disease", in a cow carcass, the agriculture ministry said Wednesday. phys.org/news/2023-02-m…

We're closing wk 5 with increased activity on the butter trade. March deals were concluded at €4440/MT (DE) and €4250/MT (IRL). Irish for April traded at €4300/MT. We're hearing increase on Feed SWP, but no trades to back up the claim. Looking forward to next week! #dairy

Dutch quotation suggests that the bottom was reached. For the first time in 2023, the Dutch quotation has turned out stable to firm. Most notably, the butter price came up +€150/MT, which is lower than where prices on the spot market are today. Offers March €4575-€4630/MT FCA.

Cheese continues to climb, despite butter seemingly reaching the peak. Gouda traded at €3300/MT FCA NL/DE for March today on the Nui Marketplace, which is +€150-200/MT as compared to last week. Butter for Q2 traded at €4890/MT FCA, after reports of €5000+/MT end last week.

This (poor) selfie attempt can only mean one thing: #Gulfood is back. We look forward to 4 busy days of connecting with customers, colleagues, friends and innovators in the dairy industry again. Want to meet up? Leave a comment! #nuimarkets #dairy #dubai Nui Markets

Day two at Gulfood: more than 20.000 steps and at least the same amount of views and stories on the dairy industry. Still large division between parties on the course of the markets for the weeks to follow. The biggest rumour today: the return of ONIL. How will the GDT react?

As we gear up for our last day at Gulfood, we hear reports of enormous price hikes. Butter for Q2 reportedly trading above €5000/MT. Gouda and Edam were both traded on Nui Marketplace for Feb/Mar at €3200/MT FCA NL/DE yesterday. We expect increased bullishness today. #dairy

We finished our last day at Gulfood with a lot of activity on Gouda and Edam. Prices shifted from €3100/MT to €3300/MT FCA NL/DE, with 400 MT traded on the Nui Marketplace on Thursday alone. Enjoy a little candid picture of me processing the trades, using an ambulance as desk!

Last week at Gulfood we saw movement on cheese. 400 MT Gouda/Edam was traded for March at levels between €3100-3300/MT FCA. This morning we have offers for German Gouda at €3300/MT FCA and NL Gouda (Frau Antje) at €3350/MT FCA. Buyers at levels around €3200/MT FCA. (1/3)

Butter was traded last Friday at €4900/MT for March. Offers are currently in excess of €5000/MT for March and €5100 for Q2, but little buying interest at those levels. We have a concrete offer for March Fresh German Butter at €5150/MT FCA. (2/3)

SMP sellers are at levels between €2500-2600/MT FCA but there is currently very little buying interest, unless down at levels between €2300-2400. SWP was offered at €925/MT FCA March but no buyers in the market at those levels. (3/3) What can Nui do for you? #dairy #broker

We can conclude that the cheese market is very, very quiet. So far this week, we traded one truckload of Arla Mozzarella for prompt collection at €3050/mt FCA BE. In our opinion, the market is still largely waiting for more information to come from the German retail tenders.

Summer has hit the European dairy trade as we are close to the end of July. Reported traded volumes are close to zero. Prices remain stable as those involved in the trade are waiting for liquidity to return. I’m betting on 2nd half August before we see some serious action again.

Bad timing for a holiday? Cheese seems to be picking up some pace again, with prices on the rise despite the bearish GDT. Edam approx €3350, Gouda approx €3450 and Mozza approx €3350-3400/mt West EU. SMP feed seems pretty flat around €2200 for Q4. See you guys in 2 weeks!

“First Class” train travel between Antwerp and Amsterdam is remarkably unceremonious. No seating available and AC that only works in your imagination on this 30 degree summers day. Oh and wifi? No wifi. Thanks NS online

With dairy markets moving sideways, finding accurate price information is proving to be tricky. Gouda is floating around the €4300-4400 mark and butter around the €7150-7300. What does it tell us? Not much to be brutally honest... Sitting tight for now seems to be the answer.

With little over 3 weeks to go, perhaps this is also the time to announce that I'll be leaving Nui Markets at the end of April. However, not to worry: I will continue in the agri-commodity trade from June 1st. More updates in late May! #NewJob #agribuisness #dairy
