For any given operation, there is a window in which one has performed enough of them to feel confidence in doing them, but not enough to have seen the rarer complications. In other words, the confidence comes before the fear; this is why we talk about these things a lot.

So 1/30 patients may avoid unnecessary nephrectromy 2 bad points- 53 day delay in definitive treatment- this should not occur with proper planning if ureteroscopy is needed. Increased risk of bladder disease - fixable with MMC post op? What would you have @robcalveet18?

Poor lil Defib a local ambulance station’s cat (who I’ve had the pleasure of cuddles with on shift) is being evicted. Please consider signing the petition below to keep him with the crews who’ve looked after him for years 🙏 change.org/p/save-defib-t…

I feel very sorry for any Japanese fans trying to get to Twickenham by train today. They would not have recognised it as train transport. Utter shambles. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇯🇵

I raced for years against GDR swimmers pumped full of testosterone who were impossible to beat because it was cheating. I know how demoralising & frustrating this is. The ioc allowed this in full sight for 20yrs. We are now doing exactly the same allowing males into women’s sport

I am sure radical pelvic exenteration would have an even better cancer cure rate than radical prostatectomy. But that's not the point. Most men with early prostate cancer do not die of it whatever we do. So comparing apples with oranges does not help.

It's erectile dysfunction awareness month! This is a common condition that affects 52% of men aged 40-70, and 21-30% of men aged 50-80. Let’s start a dialogue so that your tree stays up all year round 😉 #ErectileDysfunctionAwareness #NoHardFeelings

What was it like to parachute into Normandy in 1944, on the eve of D-Day? Paul Hamilton, as a 12th Battalion Parachute Regiment Pathfinder, did just that. This is his personal story and eye-witness account: (a thread)

This is for heterosexual couples. And the abstract and title do not tell us if the relevance is for partners 20 years younger or older than the man. (Perhaps no surprises, but it's younger!)

This is one of my all-time favorite BPH videos youtu.be/JT4IAihRHyE?si… by the genius urologist Bertrand Lukacs. Watching the ‘rolling ball’ median lobe was an epiphany for me…
