TheDungeonDelver John Coyne’s HOBGOBLIN is also worth a look. It was written around the same time, to capitalize on the D&D moral panic. Main character takes the game too seriously, can’t tell fantasy vs reality, etc. But absent those elements, it’s also a decent little 80’s horror potboiler.
