Ron DeSantis was a member of the St. Elmo Society while at Yale. Elmo's are a chapter of the Delta Phi Society of NYC, which also went by St. Elmo's. St Elmo is the patron Saint of sailors and the Order of Malta, which is why Delta Phi's insignia is a Maltese Cross.
