Does your university require proof of English competence (a certificate from a reputable testing company) from nationals from countries where English is the official language but not a national language (e.g. like Nigeria)?

Asking phil lang students to structure their first papers of the semester like a "howcatchem" detective story, rather than a "whodunit" detective story. We'll see if this helps them away from writing vacuous introductions. Shame references to Columbo are too dated by this point.
