I humbly disagree. When a party is in opposition and seeking power, its MPs lead from the front. Ranking members play vital roles and have a clearer view of national issues. When the party gains power, they are best placed to govern and most of them will still be MPs.

I disagree with this. On average, people in Ghana complete university between ages 23 and 25. If the minimum presidential age is 30, that leaves just 5–7 years of work experience, which is insufficient for such a critical leadership role in a developing country like Ghana.

The election of MMDCEs may not work under our highly partisan politics. Although assembly elections are officially non-partisan, most members belong to a party. The same will affect MMDCE elections. Can an opposition MMDCE truly work in the interest of the ruling government?
