I read "Pompeii" a book packed with information and which is mainly about the 25 years prior to the fateful day in late August 79 AD.Only the last chapter deals with the cataclysm.Most enjoyable if you like the history of the period.

I read in a day The Stranger by Camus, a remarkable, provoking book, much of which is Camus philosophy. There are aspect & nihilism & other irrationalities & the purpose of human life to ponder & anyone that does not weep at a mothers funeral is condemned to death.Extraordinary!

Because i enjoyed Tess of the D'urbervilles so much, I have decided to take up a tome of Thomas Hardy's collected short stories, which I possess and which is begging to be read i feel, at the top of the pile.We shall see.😊
