Finally finished my door! #groveport #gmhs

Today I visited with multiple teachers. We are all tired. It is the third week of school. This year will be long. It doesn’t mean we don’t love our jobs. Claiming it does is gaslighting 🤷‍♂️

Let’s move to a 4 day school week but keep a 5 day work week. Every Monday teachers have the whole day to do all the things they should not have to give up their weekend or outside of contract time doing. Simple as that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People who aren’t in education, don’t realize what teachers go through every day… every week. They can’t imagine the challenges. I assure you… they have EARNED this break!

Oh, yay, we are back in that phase of the pandemic when (mostly white) parents get on Twitter & tell us how they really feel about us teachers when we express concern about school safety. And we wonder why teachers are leaving the profession in record numbers.

Either increase teacher salaries OR change the system around and require less from them. You don’t get to require a masters degree, demand a bunch of work and then assume the profession is sustainable…especially when one is disrespected.
