Today we are marking Firefighters' Memorial Day. We are honouring the bravery and sacrifice of all firefighters who have died while serving their communities. Flags are being flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset and a minute silence will be observed at 12pm.

A busy weekend for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews, officers and support staff. A number of challenging incidents, inc multi pump fires, localised flash floods and a tragic house fire; whilst also engaging with communities in Bolton. Thanks to all inc colleagues at North West Fire Control 👏🏼

It's hot out there. Spend time in and around water safely. Remember a hot day will still mean the water is cold. This can lead to cold water shock and drowning. If you find yourself in trouble in the water #FloatToLive #RespectTheWater

Quite rightly, we have celebrated this week the massive contribution our Volunteers have provided throughout the pandemic right across GM communities. Very proud of you all, well done and thank you so much 👏👏🚒👍

An essential days training that follows on from, and consolidates previous input to our operational crews and officers. A significant amount of planning to deliver the session, which required a real team effort to coordinate. Cracking days work. 👍🏼👏🏼

We're likely to be at the fire in Royton, Oldham well into the evening tonight. There are road closures in place and traffic disruption. Please stay away from the area and close your doors and windows. Follow our website for updates: manchesterfire.gov.uk/news/waste-pla…

Today we remember Stephen Hunt who lost his life in the line of duty on this day in 2013. Stephen’s death is still felt throughout our Service. Our thoughts are with Stephen’s family, loved ones and colleagues.

A significant and sustained effort overnight by our crews, supported by colleagues from North West Fire Control and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service with the Stinger appliance. Huge thanks to all, very much inclusive a broad range of partner agencies, who provide assistance and welfare support. 👏🏼🙌🏼👍🏼

🗣️ AM Carlos Meakin: "I want to praise the hospital staff who safely evacuated staff and patients prior to our arrival, relocating them to other wards, which was a big help in enabling our crews to get on with tackling the fire." 🚒 The fire is now out. manchesterfire.gov.uk/news/fire-traf…
