I moved house this month and am at my credit card and overdraft limits from the costs involved. On Monday I was over an hour late home because I was doing CPR on someone’s loved one. Doctors aren’t asking for an unreasonable salary. Just one that feels fair for the work we do.

Doctors are not average. It is therefore irrelevant what the UK average salary is.

Wes is normally the master of saying different things to different people, but this article is a mess. Strikes were simultaneously infective and hugely damaging. Doctors are both people he wants to work with and an enemy to be defeated. You can't have it both ways Wes.

I get comments like these every day. The abuse doesn’t bother me, but it shows exactly why so many doctors feel so undervalued in the NHS. If we treat NHS staff with this kind of contempt, we can’t be surprised when they leave for countries that treat them with basic respect.
