"You saw a first-rate political performance last night. I would argue you saw a statesman like performance last night. And the choice is before us. Do you want the rule of law or do you want illiberal authoritarianism?" — Jon Meacham on Harris' DNC speech youtube.com/watch?v=GNWzGn…

Jon Meacham reminds viewers that a short time ago, Democrats and never Trumpers were fretting if only they “could get her off the ticket” 😆oh ye of little faith! We have your number!

I don't think I'll ever get over Clarence Thomas ruling on cases related to Jan 6 knowing that his wife was an active participant in the attempted coup. Or ruling on cases related to govt regulations and a wealth tax knowing he took gifts from billionaires. It's a disgrace.

The winner of the election will be Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. That is reality. A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Trump. A vote for Cornel West is a vote for Trump. Abstinence from a progressive is a vote for Trump. A non-voting Blue voter is a vote for Trump. Choose well.

Effective tax rates before and after the Trump tax law: Verizon Before: 21% After: 8% Walmart Before: 31% After: 17% AT&T Before: 13% After: 3% Walt Disney Before: 26% After: 8% FedEx Before: 18% After: 1% This is what a corporate giveaway looks like.

Gold Star mom: "And to think that this man"—she was referring to Trump—"came here and put his thumb up—" She fell silent for a moment on the telephone, taking a gulp of air. "I’m trying not to cry." From Michael Powell - theatlantic.com/politics/archi…

The “joy” discourse around the Dem campaign is interestingly never couched in the fact that folks may just be stunned it’s not the worse of the evils. Not Biden, Harris; not Shapiro, Walz; not Trump, the Dems. Essentially Wm. Burroughs—“(…) [A]ll pleasure is relief”

Whoa: the Times has printed an op-ed by Wesleyan's president welcoming more protest, even aimed at him, this academic year. Reminded me of when my union president chastened our upper administration for being so thin-skinned when part of their job should be to seek out critique.
