Running offers a series of peaks & valleys. You train hard to achieve a peak performance. Once at that peak, you may be able to race at or near your best for a while, but eventually it is time to rest and slide back down into the valley. There is always another peak to climb.

Marathon #231 today in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dedicated to my good friend, Richard Waller, his son Jeff RIP, and his grandson, Jackson. Richard is 76 years young and still running strong. He ran today with a heavy heart after losing his son last month. He is an amazing man!

This “be comfortable with being uncomfortable” is what separates distance racing from just about every other sport. Few athletic events push athletes past their redline for 30 minutes to 3 hours. I marvel at those who can take the pain and use it as fuel to go even faster.

Had a goal to run a 125k (77.5 miles) in 14 days (5.5 daily average) at a 9.30-10 min pace. Ran 74.25 miles at 10.24 pace. I failed but it doesn’t make me a failure. Goals make you better! Goals are essential! I’ll reflect, learn, adjust my actions, and try again. #goals #mindset
