Internalised ableism is very real, and we all have it (including disabled people). But a disabled person saying "I hate being disabled" or "I wish I wasn't disabled" isn't necessarily from a place of internalised ableism. Sometimes it is genuinely their reality.

If you’re struggling with your mental health, it’s common to struggle with executive functions. Chronic stress alone is enough to take your frontal lobes offline, making it difficult to concentrate + make decisions. We NEED to talk about the cognitive toll of MH struggles.

Whenever someone interrupts an Autistic person, nobody flinches or thinks that the interruption is rude. It is seen as a natural course of events. But when an Autistic person interrupts someone, their behaviour is perceived as rude, awkward and inappropriate. It’s so strange!

Offering up another perspective, a hopeful one, especially when a client is particularly stuck. We are so used to being in our heads. It is wonderful to see there is another way of navigating to heal. Getting to know our own nervous system allows us to explore our body

If I find myself preoccupied with issues of diagnosis in an ongoing way, I suspect myself of defending against being fully present with the patient's pain. Diagnosis can, like anything else, be used as a defense against anxiety about the unknown. Nancy McWilliams #diagnosis

When someone expresses their limitations due to their chronic illness/disability it is not an excuse and it is not being negative. It’s matter of fact.
