#Oppenheimer helped usher in a perilous age of nuclear violence. We can resign ourselves to the growing risks of nuclear use while frontline communities bear the burden of their development, maintenance and use. Or we can work collectively to build a safer future beyond the bomb.

Beyond thrilled that the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act just passed through the Senate version of the NDAA - now we need to make sure it stays in the conferences version of the bill. Incredible, tireless, dogged advocacy by downwinders, uranium workers, atomic vets, & many

78 years ago today the US first use of the atomic bomb brought unparalleled devastation to the people of #Hiroshima. We must act to make sure no one ever experiences such catastrophe again. The only way to do that is to eliminate every last nuclear weapon.

78 years later, the impacts from the Trinity Test continue to be felt, even though downwinders from New Mexico have yet to receive compensation. But that could change. RECA passed in the Senate, and now it needs to pass in the House. Listen: ploughshares.org/pressthebutton
