John is a Consular Officer and proud glifaa post rep at EmbajadaUSAenRD. He began his public service career as an intern at U.S. Embassy Maseru and later helped develop the Travel - State Dept social media presence. While at Department of State, he has travelled to 85 countries and counting.

In honor of #PrideMonth The Secretary's Office of Diversity and Inclusion AFSA glifaa co-hosted a screening of “The Lavender Scare” to shed light on this dark part of the Department’s history towards LGBTQI+ employees. Its also a story of how a painful history sparked achievement, activism & social change.







Leyth Swidan is a #ForeignService Officer in Copenhagen, Denmark. As an #ArabAmerican Muslim, Leyth’s interest in the Middle East, appreciation for the culture, and fluency in Arabic led to a global career in #diplomacy with the Department of State. #AAHM AAIFAA Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship


To celebrate #Pridemonth we raised the🏳️🌈at the US Embassy in Beijing. This is a symbol of our commitment to equality and human rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
