MYTH: Antihistamines can stop anaphylaxis. FACT: While antihistamines can help relieve some symptoms, such as an itchy mouth or hives, they cannot stop the life-threatening symptoms of anaphylaxis. #MYTHmonday

Unfortunately, food is not the only allergen that can cause anaphylaxis. Allergic reactions to medication, latex and insect stings are just a few non-food allergens that can be life-threatening. bit.ly/2ZulY4z

“Should” is NOT “must.” When the U.S. FDA states companies SHOULD not substitute major allergens under the new guidelines, it is a recommendation, NOT a requirement. The FDA MUST provide clear and accurate labels to the consumer! #foodallergies

We just received the following statement from Coca-Cola. "At Coca-Cola, we are not using the U.S. FDA ingredient flexibility provisions. Our products’ labels continue to reflect the ingredients used in them, and we assure you that our consumers’ safety is our top priority."

Honored to be named a Teal Champion. Join me in advocating for the passage of the FASTER Act. What does the FASTER Act do? 1 Require sesame to be labeled as the ninth major allergen. 2 Require the federal government to help scientists ultimately find a cure for food allergies.
