Administrators, make sure to spend more time in classes than just evaluations. Not every visit needs to be a formal visit and doesn’t always need a critique. Sometimes just a note of praise or encouragement will suffice. For veterans and new teachers alike.

Admin know your staff well enough to know when they’re stressed, anxious, or running on empty. They can’t give their best if they’re not at their best. Find out what they need & do all you can to help. Cover lunch duty, send them a note of encouragement, get them a sub. Etc.

Truth! It’s about the little things. Words and time are powerful! Build relationships FIRST.

When your career is over, you will not remember the lessons, the curriculum maps, or the test scores… you will remember the kids and the colleagues. It’s the people that matter.

As Teacher Appreciation week ends, understand we have a teacher shortage because we have an attrition crisis. Teachers are leaving in droves because they don’t feel supported, valued, & they are simply burnt out. We need to take care of our teachers more than one week a year.

Just because a door closes doesn't mean your purpose is over. I wouldn't be blessed doing what I love if some doors weren't closed on me.
