Looking at a map of cases by local areas, vast swathes of the country are now untouched. A few dozen problem areas. Don't forget in Leicester where there was a real issue, the infection rate has really come down. There's no reason why that won't be repeated elsewhere.

It was frustrating before and it's even more annoying now. We should not vilify people for spending time outdoors where we know the risk of transmission is far lower. I'm lucky, I have a garden. Millions have no outdoor space at home. Be sensible, but get outside and enjoy it.

The COVID Symptom Study app is estimating that the number of people with virus symptoms is well below where we were in July. Daily cases ticking up, but other measures are not showing reasons to panic. We need to look across all the data, not just reported cases.

I think most people are happy to do their bit to help the environment, our current holiday is walking in the Peak District! But to be told we need to cut down on foreign holidays by world leaders who have just jetted in on private flights is a little grating..
