I was born in Falkirk, to a Scottish mother and a Polish father, moving to England as a young boy - so I'm a mix of English, Scottish, Polish and British!

I'm very grateful for everything that England has provided for me - a truly special country.

Happy St George's Day!

There is a grim acceptance that our appalling cancer statistics are now just the way things are.

I disagree - we can do so much better, and British cancer patients deserve so much better.

Where's the vision? The drive? The action?

The honesty?! Enough meaningless propaganda.

Alcohol-specific deaths in the UK:

The number recorded in 2022 was 4.2% higher than in 2021 and 32.8% higher than in 2019 (ONS).

Lockdown put heavy pressure on thousands of people who turned to alcohol, or even more, to cope.

This must all be explored properly at the inquiry.

'The number of cancer patients waiting at least four months to start cancer treatment has doubled in four years, NHS figures show.'

No amount of propaganda can hide the shocking reality.

This is simply not good enough - where is the accountability?

As a fellow 28 year old it’s a strong agree. Staggering what this country did to its youth in 2020-22 for very little if any public health benefit.

From the outside, a wait of a few weeks for a diagnostic result may not seem like long.

For those experiencing it? Pure mental torture.

There must be a laser focus within the health service on delivering information as quickly as possible - certainly not by post.

Well said. Tomorrow I am attending the funeral of a young man who tragically took his own life. His mental health was damaged during lockdown and he never really recovered. So many young people (in particular) were badly affected, and not all were able to bounce back afterwards.

We shouldn't ask 'do lockdowns work?'

The real question is, do they cause more harm than good? My view is that they provided very little good, with an awful lot of harm.

We must not forget what happened, or it's frighteningly likely to happen again. Keep talking about it.

I feel very old today, I'm at the University of Buckingham Medical School which I founded in 2015.

Dinner tonight to celebrate the retirement of the Director of the Cancer Centre at Barts.

He was my registrar!

All my wife says is that it's normal to retire...

Can confirm. Since getting a dog... And the subsequent 2hours/day of walking I have lost 1/2 a stone and feel way more energetic than I did

If you're up to date with the latest TV, or spend large parts of your day mindlessly scrolling through social media - then you have the time to exercise and prepare better meals.

It's about priorities, and for many they are entirely warped.

Take responsibility for your health.

Whatever your view on lockdowns, there is now clearly enough evidence to at least warrant a free and open debate on whether restrictions caused more harm than they prevented.

A debate that should have been held in 2020, when reasoned analysis was hounded out by media hysteria.

And yet what has the inquiry largely focussed on?
Assumptions that we should locked down earlier, harder, longer and WhatsApp gossip.
Lockdown’s disastrous negative impact should also be investigated

Depriving young boys of what they love, trapping them inside, starving them of social contact?

We don't need academic studies to outline the horrendous effect that lockdown had on millions of children.

This was obvious then and many of us said exactly so at the time.
