This afternoon, Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) are launching Universal Guidelines for Changing Places Toilets. National Disability Authority Director, Dr Aideen Hartney, is currently welcoming attendees to the launch event #AccessibleEU

For disabled people, our wheelchairs and assistive devices are essentially extensions of our body- grabbing them without consent and even with good intent is patronising, diminishes our sense of autonomy, and can feel like an assault. Always ask how to help and never assume.

These were the happy faces of some of our members & staff in Belmullet when they finally secured beach mats so that wheelchair users could have access to the beach. But despite pleas to Mayo County Council they are still lying in storage over an insurance issue. Please get this sorted!
