As part of our Polar Regions topic we recreated Captain Scott’s expedition to Antarctica. We built a Polar sled and pulled it to the South Pole aka the outside classroom. We learnt how to tie a clove hitch and how to square lash pieces of wood together to create the sled!❄️🛷

The children in Class 1 did a fantastic job performing in our Nativity ‘Mary’s Knitting’. They learnt & sang the songs beautifully, followed stage directions brilliantly and performed in front of the whole school and parents - we were so proud of you all! 👏👏👏

The children in Class 1 looked wonderful in the crowns they had made for our Christmas lunch, what a lovely way to end the term!🎅🍗🎄👑

We began the Spring term by exploring 3d shapes and discovered if they would stack/roll/slide/roll & slide!

We roleplayed making 999 telephone calls and set up our own Emergency Call Centre for our People Who Help us topic! 👮‍♀️🧑‍🚒👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️🚓🚒🚑

We learnt about hospitals and nursing past and present and roleplayed how Florence Nightingale and her team of nurses changed how hospitals were cleaned and patients were looked after!🤕🏥🩺

We used our scientific skills to explore the reflective properties of different materials and designed reflective outfits for a teddy bear who wanted to be safe going out in the dark. 🔦

Our learning about People Who Help Us was brought to life when PC Wicks & PC Phillips came to visit! The policemen explained how they helped people & answered questions the children had written! We tried on uniform & explored the police car & equipment! Thank you so much ! 🚓

We learnt how Chinese New Year is celebrated & retold the Chinese Zodiac story, made money packets & lanterns, watched & recreated a dragon dance created pencil drawings of dragons & shared a Chinese New Year feast!

We had a great time looking after patients in our outdoor hospital and driving to emergencies in our fireengine! 🏥🚒

We had lots of fun learning about Shrove Tuesday! We wrote instructions explaining how to make pancake batter, tried tossing pancakes and then we got to try some.... Mmmm!🥞

Awe & wonder was all around in Class 1 thanks to the arrival of 4 fluffy ducklings! Learning was brought to life as we witnessed the hatching process! The ducklings brought so much joy & learning to our classrooms! Thankyou@FOGES123 for enabling this experience🐣🐣🐣🐣

To celebrate World Book Day we got to share our favourite books in class! Thank you so much to the children in @GEClass5 for reading them to us, what a treat, a whole afternoon of stories with friends! 🥰📚#readingisthebest

The theme for Science Week this year was 'Time'. We explored changes to our ducklings over time, changes in the seasons and to apple cores over 4 wks. We discovered that not all apples taste the same, have the same no. of seeds or decay in the same way! 🐣🦆🌷☀️🍂☃️🍎🍏

We learnt about how and why Easter is celebrated, made Easter craft and enjoyed Hot Cross Buns toasted on the Forest School fire. We tasted Easter eggs, had egg and spoon races and took part in an Easter charity funrun!🥚🥄⛪️

We had a wonderful time during our visit to St James's church. We learnt what happens in a place of worship and looked closely at the religious symbols and artefacts. It brought our learning about Easter to life, thank you Colin & Margaret & parent helpers!⛪️
