Happy drum corps season! 24 hours from now the 2023 season kicks off in Rockford, MI. To celebrate, I thought I'd share some fun facts about past Tour Premiere events.....a 🧵: #DCI2023 #drumcorps

This "iteration" of the Tour Premiere event has been happening since 2014. The first 4 years were held at Lucas Oil Stadium until the event moved to Ford Field in 2017. This year will be the first time since 2013 that the first midwest show of the season is outdoors.

.The Cadets won the first two Tour Premieres in 2014 and 2015. Bluecoats took the crown in 2016 and have won every year since. However, neither corps are attending this year, which means we'll have a new Tour Premiere champion by the end of tomorrow night.

Placements at the Tour Premiere don't always follow the exact order of placements from the prior season. Of the 7 prior events, 4 have had at least one "upset" - a corps beating another that was placed ahead of them in finals the year before.

Winning scores are typically in the 69 to 72 range with an average of 71.01. 2017 Bluecoats hold the record high score with a 72.3. The spread between first and last place is usually between 8 and 10 points with an average of 8.8 (usually 5 or 6 corps are at this event)

This year, we'll be welcoming The Colts to their first ever Tour Premiere and welcoming back The Troopers for their first appearance since 2014!
