Sunday Morning Church Bell Peel at St Peter and St Paul’s West Mersea. The very Church where my 4th Great Grandparents the Widow Mary Cuthbert (maiden name unknown) and James Salmon were married on the 10 Feb 1815. What a way to start my birthday! 🥰

Does anyone have any experience with ordering a search for a divorce certificate with a D440 form when you don’t have all the details. Will be searching in the 1940s and don’t have £65 to waste if it is definitely a waste of time.

Took a little break from family history as through ordering some birth certificates we uncovered a shocking family secret that was made more difficult as the people involved are no longer with us. But think I’m ready to get back in the saddle!

My local train station has a charity second hand bookshop to raise money for the Royal Marsden. I picked up this yesterday and have been looking up the London churches and places on my tree. Anyone got anything they want looked up?

Other than my mother herself I think that everyone I have found from my maternal line has been born within a 100mile radius of where I was born and live now. Whereas my husband holds two passports!

My white mother in law sat on a bus when she first moved to England and a white British lady leaned in and told her that the black British lady in front of them should go back to her own country. Which proved to her that this rhetoric is purely racist. As she was the immigrant.

Is anyone here studying the Lambert Family of Banstead and Surrey? I am trying to find out the significance of the centaur with a flower and a crow/rook on their family crest. Here are photographs from Chaldon Church, Surrey.
