Last Friday, GEFA Executive Director Trey Bennett joined the city of Savannah for the groundbreaking of the I&D Water Treatment Plant expansion. The project received a $146M GEFA loan as part of Georgia’s $500M+ investment in water infrastructure for coastal Georgia.

The Governor's amended FY2026 budget proposal will include $35 million for GEFA to finance natural gas infrastructure projects.

To honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., GEFA joined Southface Institute to volunteer with the Decatur MLK Service Project, which is an annual effort to weatherize and improve the homes of seniors. GEFA’s Glendale Jones, Gabe Guerrero, and Hayley Cotton helped weatherize a home.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) is celebrating our 40th Anniversary this year. In April 1986, the board of directors of the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority—our original name—held its first meeting at the State Capitol.
