That time of year again: Dust in the wind. Huge blob of Saharan dust in the east Atlantic and over Southern Europe, due to a very dynamic wind pattern over that region. Rome is about to get some thick haze. East Atlantic has cooled some due to strong easterly wind and dust 1/

You can see on the far right side of this graph how the Eastern Tropical Atlantic has seen sea surface temps drop (these are anomalies). Problem is it may be short-lived, wind pattern will switch late week, so we will see if temps recover. Tks Alex Boreham for the graphic! 2/

Alex Boreham While dust plays a part in cooling, its moreso wind. The past few days we've seen strong easterly trade winds (purple) which cools sfc water thru upwelling and evaporation. Also the dust is a result of/ being transported by the east winds. Tks Dr. Levi Cowan for the image 3/

Alex Boreham Dr. Levi Cowan One last note: Hurricane season is still 1.5 months away and Cape Verde Season (when we get those long track storms from Africa) is still 4 months away so take these short term fluctuations in SST with a grain of salt (or dust). Temps will rise and fall weekly out there.

Ok now one last thing... the sea surface temps are only part of the story. It's hard to lower surface ocean temps much, and for long, when the column of heat is rich and deep. That is what this shows. Record ocean heat content in the main development region from Brian McNoldy

Many projects have been announced to use renewables to produce hydrogen this decade

But just a fraction are forecast to go ahead -- with only 7% of the proposed capacity expected to come online by 2030

Policies to support demand can improve this 👉 iea.li/49HwgyK

It's fascinating how fleets of Cybertrucks roll out with broad support, yet the mention of enhancing train, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure often raises eyebrows in America.

The amount of warming Earth is projected to face in coming decades has DROPPED since 2015.

“If we don’t talk about what has been accomplished, we are disempowering and discouraging people from taking action,” The Real Prof. Katharine Hayhoe says.
