I attended the LB Century Club dinner Monday night to congratulate Retired LBCC Athletic Director, Chuck McFerrin who was inducted into the Hall of Fame and Mack Calvin, also inducted, a star athlete alum from LBCC. Plus Volleyball Coach, Jonathan Charette, Coach of the year.

Yesterday I volunteered with Long Beach Rotary Club members to assemble plastic face shields for health care workers at area hospitals. It was very rewarding but gave me greater appreciation for those female workers in early 20th Century working 16 hour days in sweatshops.

I attended the Molina Foundation book giveaway at Olivia nieto Herrera elementary school today. Dr Martha Molina Bernadett was present and was able to assist Herrera students in selecting 2 books to keep and take home.

Last night the LBCC Board of Trustees approved the refinancing of facilities bonds resulting in a savings of $6 million in property taxes for residents of Long Beach, signal hill, south Lakewood and Avalon. I am proud to serve on the board representing district 5.

Bravo to new LBCC Superintendent-President Dr Mike Muñoz who announced yesterday that that Pacific Coast Campus parking structure will be open to LBCC students to access an internet connection. This is extremely important to student who don’t have access at home.

Yesterday lbcc communications staff taped footage for our 2nd virtual Commencement.
