I'd really rather see David Miliband and Mark Carney "running down" the country (aka making perfectly reasonable critical remarks about the actions of populist Tories) than have those same populist Tories doing real damage through half-witted, ideologically blinkered, policies.

It's a niche area of interest, but I would quite like to return for a few years to a role I had 30 years ago: Clerk of the Committee of Selection. All the fragmentation will be fun to navigate, and the Committee can amuse itself by allocating the absolute worst jobs to Reform.
