Exactly this. 'Evidence-based' too often becomes 'the status quo or my own preferred position, unless you can provide an unreasonable level of data to prove we should do the opposite, with what constitutes evidence defined purely in my terms'.

If there is a worse managed, more utterly useless and wrong-headed institution in British public life, I have no idea what it is

This is absolutely pathetic from Metropolitan Police. A Jewish man was told he couldn't cross the road because of pro-Palestinian protestors.

Also the language of equivalence - Hamas is a proscribed terrorist group.

I hope James Cleverly๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง intervenes.

This is London 2024, where the Met tell Jews they can't cross the road. Watch this video and be horrified. If I were James Cleverly๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง I'd be hauling in Sir Mark Rowley on Monday morning for an interview without coffee. This cannot be allowed to continue. Jews deserve to feel safe.

Unless we boost workforce participation, productivity AND birth rates we will need unprecedented levels of migration to fill the gaps in the labour market.

BUT only a minority of the mass migration we HAVE had since 2021 has been for work (rather than study, asylum & family).

EXL GB News: There has been an 11x rise in investigations in the care sector by the labour abuse watchdog.

The surge comes as the government reacts to 'industrial-scale abuse' of the health & care visa, with 350,000 arriving on the route last year.

If you look at DWP Universal Credit data, which is admin not survey, you will see a huge increase in those claiming out-of-work benefits who have No Work Requirements.

Spot on from Michael Gove.

As I wrote for CapX in March, 'ensuring the continued vitality of markets is an active endeavour, and one which sometimes requires governments to remove or reduce distortive blockers like leasehold.'
