#OnThisDay in 1903, North Carolina earned its #FirstInFlight nickname when Wilbur and Orville Wright achieved the first sustained, powered heavier-than-air aircraft flight in Kitty Hawk. On their final flight of the day, Wilbur traveled 852 feet and was airborne for 59 seconds.
