Fellow parent/carer Gill White from PAMIS saying she "didn't want a break from being a parent, she wanted a break from being a carer. She wanted the choice and freedom that other parents have". It's really not asking much is it?Why is it so hard then? #SCSConference

Research in Holland found 24 confirmed cases of people euthanised “simply because of the symptoms of having a learning disability or autism” with 15 other possibly related cases. Now many MPs want to similar measures here while STILL failing to fix social care. Shame on them

This will indeed be a fatal blow for the National Care Service Bill. But I do wonder whether those opposing the Bill know that without significant social care reform, disabled people and unpaid carers will continue to be denied some of their most basic human rights.

“There will be a lot of disabled people who feel they don’t have a choice, that their life is so difficult to be included in society” Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson on how the Assisted Dying Bill will impact people in Britain with disabilities #Peston

Social care support is how many disabled people and unpaid carers are able to access some of their most basic human rights. It's an utter disgrace that councils continue to charge people to access essential care and support! #CarersCantWait

"We should no longer talk about parent/carers of disabled children being "on their knees" or "at breaking point". We should say clearly that 42% have considered suicide as their only way out due to lack of support." Powerful words from academic Dr Siobhan O'Dwyer. Disabled Children's Partnership

We have never prioritised the rights of disabled children, the rights of disabled adults, and the rights of older people in this country. And until that doesn't change, very little will improve for the lives of unpaid carers.

It should not be the responsibility of disabled people and their families to plug budget deficits in LAs. Great campaign initiated by Tracey Campbell ACT bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Social Care isn't just about the elderly. East Renfrewshire council is expecting to raise over £1 million by imposing a care tax on people with Learning Disabilities. This isn’t a great look East Renfrewshire rettisa4letterword.wordpress.com/2025/01/29/whi…

So much for ending charging for non residential care. Not only are care packages being cut, but this feature in STV News highlights that charges are increasing. As if life isn’t tough enough…

I have been wondering how to make the councillors of East Renfrewshire understand the impact of their decisions around social care charges. Here is the difference in raising £1m from the employed vs disabled. Now tell me it's okay because it's happening elsewhere.
