Severe t-storms from several fast-moving mesoscale convective clusters brought widespread reports of hail and strong winds last night. Three instances of hail 2" or larger were reported, and wind gusts caused downed trees. Damage from the storms also affected AL, SC, NC and TN.

April was a warm one. Valdosta had its #1 warmest April on record (avg temp 73.1). ATL and Gainesville both had their 2nd warmest April, Athens had its 3rd, and Rome and Peachtree City both reached 4th warmest. Savannah and Augusta were in their top 10 warmest (NOAA/NCEI) #gawx

So far May has been quite an active tornado month for North/Central GA, with most being quick spin-ups (7 EF1s, 8 EF0s). Data from the Storm Prediction Center (1950-2025) shows the May GA Twister Counts: 2008 – 23 2017 – 21 1984 – 16 2025 – 15 2024 – 10 1998 – 10 1980 – 10

July was hot and dry, with several cities across the state reaching top 10 records. Columbus recorded it's #1 driest July and Macon had its 3rd driest since 1893. Both had 0.93". Atlanta had its 3rd hottest July on record, Athens 5th, Savannah 6th, and Columbus 8th. (NOAA/NCEI)
