I’m calling on the Federal Government to nationalize the medical supply chain. The Federal Government should immediately use the Defense Production Act to order companies to make gowns, masks and gloves. Currently, states are competing against other states for supplies.

NY is doing everything we can to expand hospital capacity. We are asking all NYS hospitals to increase capacity by 100%—regulations have been waived. We are ordering that every hospital MUST increase capacity by at least 50%. Every hospital must do its part to expand capacity.

We cannot delay any longer. Governor Kate Brown, we need a statewide #StayAtHome order. The # of cities, counties, electeds, health care groups, joining me in pushing for this continues to grow. We remain hopeful you will act. But if not, I'm ready to act for Portland tomorrow.

The people who are out & about, reckless, NOT social distancing, NOT listening to city/county orders...are basically saying F YOU to the health care workers who are going weeks without a break to SAVE LIVES, while EXPOSING THEMSELVES & THEIR LOVED ONES. #coronavirus #covid19
