Rachel Reeves said freezing tax thresholds for longer would hurt working people and would breach Labour’s manifesto. Now Starmer and Reeves refuse to deny they are planning to break that promise to pay for more and more welfare. Labour is choosing higher taxes to pay for higher

A small win - the judiciary will finally lift the veil of secrecy over asylum tribunals. This will finally make it possible to scrutinise ALL decisions by judges. The public always deserved to know who is being allowed to stay and why.

‘This isn’t a minor crime, it is actually very serious.’ Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick MP discusses the 25,525 tool theft cases that were reported to the police in 2024 and the impact of it on small businesses.

Inflation has been above target every single month since Labour's last Budget, leaving working people worse off. Labour hiked borrowing and taxes, stoking the inflation now hitting families. If Labour had any backbone, they would adopt our £47 billion savings plan and our

Labour are giving unions a ‘Right to Roam’ in every private business. Because of their new 330 page law, owners will have to let union bosses through their front door unchallenged. This isn’t pro worker. This is Soviet-inspired socialism.

BREAKING: Food inflation is UP - meaning your weekly shop is costing more under Labour. My message to Rachel Reeves is clear: Get spending down, get taxes down and get inflation back to - bang on target - where the @conservatives left it at the last election.

The drop in inflation is welcome, but prices are still rising at nearly double target. Food inflation has increased. The reality of Labour's high taxes is higher prices for families and businesses. The Conservatives will lower the tax burden and ensure we live within our means.

A judge has ruled that isolating an Islamic state terrorist in prison is a breach of the ECHR. How can anyone still defend this broken document? It’s morphed into a criminal’s charter.

Ahhhhhhh, got it. Labour’s plan to solve the immigration crisis is to make the country so unappealing everyone leaves! Brilliant 👏👏👏

Interesting if will-never-get-thro budget idea in David Smith's column in The Times and The Sunday Times on Sunday (am reading a bit late!). If income tax thresholds are to be frozen why not "an accompanying freeze" in state pension.. and maybe all other welfare payments too?

Keir Starmer wants our applause for a tiny inflation dip while inflation remains at nearly double target.   Food inflation is even higher, at 4.9%.   We have to control spending, cut tax and lower inflation.

Extremists, murderers and terrorists are using the ECHR to get compensation for their treatment in prison. Compensation paid for by you. It’s scandalous. We must leave the ECHR.

This Labour Government's policies are directly responsible for the decline in UK heavy industry. Carbon taxes, job taxes, energy taxes, unemployment = up.

1-week until the Budget. My message to Rachel Reeves is clear: Cut government spending - including the welfare bill - and you don't need to break your promise and raise taxes again.

The Budget process should be about stability, confidentiality and honesty. Yet we've seen leaks, briefings and shifting stories. The Office for Budget Responsibility must never be dragged into the political crossfire. Britain deserves a Chancellor who brings clarity, not chaos. My letter to the OBR 👇🏻

Consumer confidence is through the floor. And no surprise with the world’s longest and most miserable ‘run in’ to a budget that will put up taxes on hard working families. Prices are going up thanks to last years tax rises, people are poorer and the government has no backbone
