The American Labor Party was founded, in part, to assist FDR in 1936. In New York, a candidate can appear on the ballot under multiple parties (fusion voting). The ALP's endorsement meant FDR's name appeared twice. Nearly 1 in 10 votes for FDR in NY were cast on the ALP line.

We need a democracy thatserves us, the voters, rather than the biggest donors.

Congress must pass the Freedom to Vote Act to protect and expand our voting rights.

Voting is about individual and community power.

Fusion voting would help maximize the power of every vote.

Fusion allows parties to cross-endorse candidates from other parties or run their own. Alternate parties can have influence w/o necessarily being spoilers. It's why more parties emerged and merged in the 1900s, before most states banned the practice. newamerica.org/political-refo…

We could have more than two meaningful political parties in the US. And more parties would be better. As this new collection of essays from Political Reform shows, it wouldn't require a constitutional change. Fusion voting would be a start: newamerica.org/political-refo…

Fusion voting was once legal & common in NJ, and we had a vibrant multi-party democracy. Eventually, though, the two dominant parties started to weaken the minor parties and NJ outlawed fusion. But there is now a movement to get it back in the Garden State go.shr.lc/3sCD5Si

Re-legalizing fusion voting — where multiple political parties nominate the same candidate on the ballot — would also be a powerful step toward a multiparty democracy and would allow for a uniquely American version of proportional representation. protectdemocracy.org/work/fusion-vo…

We can break this doom loop by adopting reforms that can move us towards a multiparty democracy, specifically 1⃣ proportional representation and 2⃣ fusion voting.
