Going on month five of trying to buy a co-op in NYC. We’re fortunate to be paying cash, and everyone told us the process would be quick without a mortgage. Nooope. Word to the wise: crappy condo>great co-op. Too far in now but this is a nightmare!

It’s official: I’m an NYC homeowner! That was a battle but I’m so happy. Now to: schedule movers, paint, replace baseboards, etc etc etc etc!

Apparently I’m into self-inflicted pain: buying an investment property a month after buying our first home (in a different state too). Exciting but 🤯

Okay Americans. I know you know but please remember none of the following is normal or okay: a) the most stressful part of my biopsy today was wondering if it would be covered by insurance, b) 21-year-old kids can buy an assault rifle no problemo. We need change in this country.

Sigh, second house offer turned down because there was a competing offer that turned down an inspection. All we want is peace of mind! This real estate market is totally insane.

Left my old work 403b without rolling over because I liked the options available. Now they’ve moved to a new provider, my old account in closed, and I won’t have access to the new one until late April. I don’t like my money to be missing! Lesson learned. IRA rollover wins.

Facing competing job offers and actually going with the one that pays $15k less. Why? Flexibility, fully remote, interesting work, great team I already know. Money isn’t everything. :) #YOLO

$35k student loan now down to $3k! Should be finished next month (within a year of graduation). Almost free! Loans from 2 countries to go to a third, during a pandemic = 🤯 but now feel 💪🏻

Just accepted my very first six-figure job, which comes with my very first sign-on bonus! Sad to leave my team and the flexibility my position provides, but this opportunity has struck enough fear in me to know it’s a good growth opportunity 😬🎉

Drafting co-op board emails at 4am to stop HOA fees from being increased to above market rates = not great start to a Wednesday. Sigh. Here we come, $1500/month for having the privilege to live in the 2 bed we bought with cash. Hopefully we can sell it one day! Ughhh

Currently trying to figure out how to get paid for old UK work while also trying to figure out how to pay back friends in Canada and it’s way harder than it should be. Banks needs to get better at cross-border/global stuff, man.

Tip: with the Euro almost par with USD + the great VAT refund - go shopping in Paris! Bought a YSL purse for approx $600+ off retail by doing so.😊 Also it was my first luxury shopping experience and it was lovely 💞. #funtimes

I’m 5 months pregnant with my first child and so far my local Buy Nothing group has been invaluable for baby stuff. Never mind buying used, people are giving away kid stuff for free constantly! Already have a stocked closet for baby boy and so thankful 🤰🏻💞

Hey parents of young children: what are some baby items you love? Looking to optimize my registry/shopping list with tried and true stuff!

Advice for non-parents who plan on someday having kids: spend all of your time getting drunk at hip restaurants and bars, spending hours alone at a cafe, and traveling out of a backpack. These are things I can no longer do without a babysitter and I miss them so.
