Although I think there are really two things going on with the discussion of his comments that are important, not one big issue.

Acknowledging that the average size woman is now a 14/16/18 is major. If brands took it to heart, the entire industry would be different.

But also acknowledging that average means “middle” is important instead of treating it like the end of a size range.

I fully believe that if we saw designers treating 16/18 as the average, we’d see better clothes in size 20+ as well.
