Does the City need looser ADU rules? 5/11 SD economists polled say no because we should build green field communities instead, property value reduction, single family neighborhood character and parking issues. sandiegouniontribune.com/business/story…

Youth Opportunity Passes is a trial program that will allow kids 5-18 to ride SD transit free for the next year. I'm going to pick up the youth Pronto cards for my 7 and 8 year olds this afternoon at the City Heights Rapid station. sdmts.com/inside-mts/eve…

There are 3 parklets on 30th that are particularly unsafe. Removing them would dramatically improve the experience and make it safer. Anybody know if the city has any plans to remove them?

Great episode on why housing in America so expensive. “A tangle of selfishness and good intentions” (nimbyism and well intentioned but easily abused environmental laws)

Lol. I was waiting in the bike lane at red light at El Cajon and 30th. A guy in a large truck pulls up behind me and gets impatient. He honks and motions for me to move my bike out of the way so he can turn right.

The analog experience of getting an MTS card outside of a trolley station is just as bad. I had to visit 3 nearby run down liquor stores (all listed as vendors on MTS site) with my kids. None could figure out how to sell me a card. Finally got one at a payday advance store.

San Diego: where people live (red) vs walkable access to high quality transit (dotted circles are half mile radius of train station or BRT stop).

I checked out the Lewis Mumford book that contains most of his most famous quotes from the library. Still had the original library checkout card with only one stamp from 1964.

This is a good design for a tuck under townhouse. The unit closest to the street is street oriented. The garages are hidden from the street. redfin.com/CA/San-Diego/3…

Too many regional roadblocks. In San Diego if you knock down your garage to build an ADU it triggers a requirement to either provide a 20 foot long driveway in front of the new garage or to close the curb cut. That requirement tanked the ADU above garage design we had designed.
