Beginning tomorrow, Tues, Sept. 18, operations will return to normal at Fort Sumter, Liberty Square Visitor Center, Fort Moultrie, and Fort Moultrie VC. All ferries to Fort Sumter be running. Charles Pinckney National Historic Site will resume normal operations on Wed, Sept. 19.

The bathrooms at Fort Sumter are temporarily out of order; high tides have damaged the system. Visitors will have access to the bathrooms on the ferry while it is tied to the dock. We will begin working on the system tomorrow & hope to have things operational by early next week.

The 1:00 pm ferry from Patriot's Point and 2:30 pm ferry from Liberty Square to Fort Sumter are CANCELED today due to unsafe wind conditions.

During the federal government shutdown, we will not monitor or update social media. Fort Sumter National Monument, which includes Fort Moultrie, Fort Moultrie Visitor Center, and the Liberty Square Visitor Education Center, is closed for resource protection and safety. 1/2

Following the guidance from the CDC and recommendations from state and local public health authorities in consultation with NPS Public Health Service officers, Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie NHP is temporarily closed starting today, March 18, 2020.

Due to the severe weather predicted to come through the area later today, the park will close at 2:30 pm today. The 1:45 pm ferry trip from Patriots Point and 3:00 pm ferry trip from Liberty Square to Fort Sumter are cancelled. Updates will be posted at nps.gov/fosu.
