FREINDS was visited the Pamela Northam who thanked our students for submitting Christmas cards, dropped off some cookies for decorating, and awarded some special challenge coins to our kids. Class President Summer's card was sent to people around the Commonwealth and the world!

When her daughter and son were sold, Brooks was motivated to help children who were separated from their parents. She convinced the Ladies Sewing Circle and several churches to found the Friends' Asylum for Colored Orphans. The organization we know as FRIENDS today. #BHM

Last week, Rob Caldwell from WTVR CBS 6 Richmond visited to follow-up on a “Building Better Minds” segment. After the segment, he surprised FRIENDS with a $200 gift card to help replenish much needed supplies for our “Virtual Learning” classes for school-aged students. THANK YOU CBS 6 GIVES!

Students are celebrating the life and work of Thomas J. Martin, who was granted a patent in 1872 for an early version of the fire extinguisher. Another fun project to bring #BlackHistoryMonth alive in our classrooms.
