One thing this fellowship has suggested to me is that when we're not competing over resources or time, people mostly get along. Faculty are legendarily obnoxious and difficult, but everybody in this group seems to get along with everybody just fine.

This student athlete is looking at how can be used for bonding exercises for sports teams. Now this student has been skeptical of RPGs I told them that's okay & healthy, & to offer those criticisms in the class.

Grab your dancing slippers & shoe-roses because the Netherfield Ball is right around the corner! We check out the fancy footwear frills of the 17th and 18th centuries into the Regency era.

You’re seeing the long term impact of campus organizing. Students for Justice in Palestine has been around since the 90’s. BDS since the early aughts. The architecture was there. For decades. So the folks saying this came from nowhere can be quiet now.

really funny that this Columbia prof is so dumb he blew the chance to give one of the best intro lectures on 4'33' humanly possible

“We didn’t listen to 4’33 because the silence wasn’t the silence I wanted them to hear” might be MORE anti-art than the people who just hate it for not being music.

Seeing way too much “college kids are out of control” and not enough “they’ve uncovered multiple civilian mass graves in Palestine”

I didn’t know Bill, but academia isn’t that large, & so my TL is full of people I like & admire who point to him as someone who made them feel welcome & worthy, often when others had failed to do so.

May we all strive to make a world where that is commonplace, not extraordinary.

I'm so heartbroken. I think of how many of us have a story of how Bill Hart-Davidson made us feel heard and valued. He taught me so much about scholar. And he taught by example how to be kind, and to be enthusiastically engaged in doing good and living well. Hug the ones you're with. ❤️

Students have occupied and are occupying several campuses in the UK alone: Leeds, Goldsmiths, Manchester, Bristol, UCL and others. They've made similar demands to the US movement. The key difference, I'd say, is the reaction from university management and media. 1/6

I know this is being normalized extremely quickly, but let’s take a step back, put political analysis aside, and think about how insane this is. Students across the country are being arrested by actual police for sitting on the lawns of their universities with tents and signs.

Columbia’s own website has a page about how the last time they called for a mass arrest of student protesters, they were in the wrong and fucked up their reputation for decades

The recent sit-ins in higher ed spaces are inspiring and creating a second wave of protest against the genocide in Gaza. They also follow a pattern of student solidarity waves, which Ellen Berrey and I have been watching for years. It’s 2015 and we’re at a different Columbia...

Are there any Barnard alums on Twitter? Because what the school is doing to 53 students is a nightmare.
Suspending them AND evicting them AND cutting them off from meals.

Barnard did this! Not C.U./Minouche. Columbia College suspends but doesn't evict or take away meal plan.
