To mark #BlackHistoryMonth, we'd like to highlight the life of Mr William Smith, a mixed race anti-slavery campaigner born in Ghana, who moved to Jersey from Sierra Leone as a lay preacher. An active member of the anti-slavery movement he helped free over 33,000 African slaves.
