Has your Rep agreed to vote "YES"? How about their challengers in the Nov. election? Check our “Majority Against Corruption” map at mohpa.org/mac & send them a note about it. 8/9

Today in court, Rabbi Michael Pollack and Kevin Long fought criminal trespass charges from our action in June. They tried to deliver messages to all 203 representatives with info about the Sept. 12 #GiftBan vote, demanding they take personal responsibility in ending corruption.

Our democracy warriors were found NOT GUILTY! There shouldn’t be different rules for the wealthy elite and the rest of us. And that’s exactly why we need to ban legal bribery in Pennsylvania on September 12th.

Today we went 3/3 in court. 1st case: Police didn’t show 2nd: A banner drop in the House gallery did not “terrorize” House members 3rd: Police unlawfully prevented us from exercising our first amendment rights. All together, 6 people acquitted today

🧵A thread on why Pennsylvania representatives only worked for one hour on their first day back in session yesterday. TL;DR: We made both parties panic when we tried to force legislators to vote on the #GiftBan for the first time ever.

After marching 33 miles from York, our anti-corruption activists spent yesterday morning in the Capitol as legislators came back into session. We flooded the hallways to let them know the Gift Ban was on for today. All eyes were on our legislators to get this done.

This week, Pennsylvania legislators killed a bill that would have prevented $7 million dollars of bribes flowing into our legislature from special interests since we first began asking for a Gift Ban in 2017. Why? PA House Republicans 🇺🇸 and @PAHouseDems gave these excuses. 🧵⬇️

“We find it hard to believe that the state lawmakers who were given an all-expenses-paid trip to a Wyoming rodeo and “Western celebration” this past summer by a Georgia-based company were not swayed by the experience.” #GiftBan LNP | LancasterOnline lancasteronline.com/opinion/editor…

I don't think there's a real life metaphor for this. Watch dozens of lobbyists flood Scott Martin's fundraiser after Harrisburg police cleared protesters from the door.

State Reps. Paul Schemel (R., Franklin) and Jared Solomon (D., Philly) want to ban gifts over $50+ for all Pennsylvania public officials and candidates for office, and transportation/hospitality over over $500+, with a number of exceptions. legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/C…

Right now our politicians are kingpins of capital. Money and profit ALWAYS have the final say. The things we need to live good lives — food, shelter, education, medical care — are NOT on the ballot. There is no common good, there is no social contract. Only exploitation.

Rob Mercuri We only know one thing about you: You’ve taken large gifts from lobbyists, and you don’t support the Gift Ban. If you want to earn any of the public’s trust and respect, sign onto HB 484 today and let us know that you know that bribery is wrong.

We are doing everything we can to make bribery illegal. We do this all on a shoestring budget and our funding is not guaranteed. If you want to root out corruption in Harrisburg and to see our institutions be more accountable to the people, please donate.actionnetwork.org/fundraising/su…
