Francis sighs in frustration, feeling trapped in his room. He picks up his sketchbook and heads to the park near his dorm. Once he finds an empty bench, he sits and starts sketching aimlessly, his headphones playing one of his playlists.

Francis, startled, puts his sketchbook aside and stands up with the dog in his arms. "Woah, hey there," he smiles and pets him. He hears Gilbert call out after him, and realises it's his dog that has run to him.

"No worries! He's adorable, what's his name?" Francis asks, and rubs the dog's ear. "Yeah, this park is usually empty around this time of the night," he looks around. "My dorm is just down the street, so I come here sometimes to take a walk, or sketch."

Francis sits back down on the bench, next to Lafayette, laughing at his comment. "Biscuit," he echoes, and lets the dog relax in his lap. He then realises he never introduced himself. "Oh, I'm Francis, by the way" he says, and extends his hand.

He nods. "Mhm. I'm majoring in visual arts."

He hesitates slightly, but then nods. "Of course."

Francis nervously watches Lafayette's reactions, but relaxes each time the page turns – it looks like he likes what he's seeing. "Thank you," he says, accepting the sketchbook timidly. "I'm in my senior year."

"Why, thank you," he grins at the other man. "Where are you studying?"

"Oh! That's nice," he says. "I've been there a couple of times before, I've never seen you around. Poor timing, maybe."

"I see," he nods. He had been petting Biscuit absentmindedly all this while — he sees that the dog has fallen asleep in his lap. "Do you live around here?"

Francis blinks. He did not understand whatever just left the other man's mouth – except that it was in French. He'd tried learning before, but he gave up just as quickly as he'd decided to learn in the first place. Maybe he should try learning again. He nods. "On campus, yes."
