Very sad to hear of the passing of Professor Douglas Chamberlain. He was the founder of the paramedic profession, changed cardiac arrest management with defibs and founded the Resus Council UK. How the Emergency services work currently is down to his work and implementation. RIP

😱30 arrests a day of people who oppose mass migration or Islam on social media! Surely that can’t be true, can it…?πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Well, you know me - I can’t let a claim like that go unchecked! 🧐 So let’s dive in 🧡1/18 #FreeSpeech #FactCheck

Well written and amusing summary of the laughable and frankly pathetic attempts to a general strike (blink and you’ll miss it) yesterday. searchlightmagazine.com/2025/05/great-… @InevitableWest and their ilk exposed as the charlatans and tub-thumpers that they are

"Inpatient length of stay 7.1 days, four-hour compliance 60%, result misery. Inpatient length of stay 6.7 days, four-hour compliance 95%, result happiness." As Mr Micawber (might've) said about patient flow.

A very geeky but genuine question: Why have car designers almost entirely eschewed 'lifting' door handles in favour of chunkier 'pull-out' ones? Childhood cars (Rover SD1, Ford Cortina, Vauxhall Cavalier all puctured) have the former. Nearly every car now has the latter. Why?

And now we see a difference! It’s not the number of attendances that matters; it’s how full of patients the A&E department is that matters. On the 183 most full days, the mean length of stay was 382 minutes; on the 183 least full days it was 292 minutes. 11/12

So yes, the busy-ness of the A&E does affect how long it takes to treat patients. But we need to measure busy-ness measuring the crowding, not by counting the arrivals. 12/12

Kinda ironic that I had no idea what this conference was about and then after digging it seems to be about internet awareness and selling. And if I’m wrong then it’s failed its mission again!
