It's frustrating that beloved software keeps getting acquired by the big monopolies. They never have the same love for users or the product. Though it's incredible for the founders.

This year I've put a good lot of effort into trying to write more. But I'd still much rather write code than words.

I'm sure the average salary of developers is higher than the average salary of writers. But if you're taking an entrepreneurial approach, is it more valuable to be a writer?

Angular and .Net is my main stack. It's not the cool one on Twitter. But it's powerful and mature. Plus very in demand in New Zealand and Australia.

Was going to work on a code project this Saturday. But ended up working on the sailing dinghy all day. It feels less productive, but probably a choice I'll be happy with over the summer. ⛵☀️

My favourite email app now has a Windows client. I'm loving Spark Email on the desktop. So clean and functional. What a great UX.

There's nothing quite like using a new piece of software that's well-designed. You try and do something new with it, and it just works beautifully. It inspires me to do good work building software myself.

Spun up a new React project with Vite. It's hard to tell with an empty project, but right now it seems crazy fast. Will be interesting to see what it's like with a big project.
