Had the pleasure of attending the Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal Ceremony at the Sports Hall of Fame. This is the 2nd group of recipients as the earlier proup had surnames from A-M. Congratuations to all these leaders or special volunteers of our community.

Our Red Deer & District Chinese Community Society brought in Lunar New Year of the Rabbit with a buffet meal and some great entertainment at the Festival Hall tonight. The highlight of the evening was the Lion Dancers from Calgary and a demonstration by Master Rim's Taekwondo.

Had the pleasure of attending the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign Drive volunteer appreciation gathering. The campaign was very successful as they surpassed the previous years total by approximately $10,000. Very caring and supportive folks in Red Deer. Congratuations.

Jeffrey is having another Birthday tomorrow but decided to celebrate tonight. Very Happy Birthday Jeff from your friends and relatives.

Very impressed with the Grand Opening of GH Dawe Community Centre. Parking was at a premium and many many families were there to check things out. One needs to visit to see how impressive the project turned out. Congratuations City of Red Deer.

Pleasure of attending the RD Cultural Heritage Society's AGM tonight where some of the member groups came in their cultural costumes. I never received the memo or I would of dressed up too. Very productive meeting where next big event is Canada Dsy celebrations.

Lynn, the Red Deer City's meeting coordinator, retired today. People from many organizations, agencies and other areas of the City all came out to wish her a happy retirement. She is photographed with a couple of old former councillors.

The Red Deer Dream Centre had its ribbon cutting just now. A free BBQ is taking place until 4:00pm. Come join us.

The Phillipine Dancers entertained the crowd this afternoon at Bower Ponds as part of the Canada Days celebrations. Good crowd in spite of the weather. Fireworks are scheduled for 11:00pm.

Not only was Sandy an excellent teacher at HHHS, she was an invaluable volunteer with the Red Deer + District Chinese Community Society. I am sure that everyone seen the shows she organized for Canada Day and Chinese New Years celebrations over the years. Thank you Sandy.

It appears this is finally the beginning of the end END for the Club Café and Buffalo Hotel as their signages are taken down and services cut. Next the buildings will be flatten. A lot of history gone.

Grand Opening of Woody's Spray Park at the GH Dawe Community Centre happening now until 4:00pm. Lots of fun and games for all.

Another Westerner Days offsite event coming to a close for another year. The Chili Cook Off at Save-On Foods north was well attended with competitors from Red Deer. The SawBack Brewery entry withcsome wild meat and a and a sample of their brew fir chaser. Very successful.

Had a great time playing Pine Hills Golf Course (Rocky Mountain House) this afternoon. The course is in excellent condition, staff very friendly and accommodating and my playing partners of Bryon, Jan and Graham made the game fun. Could of played better.

The Afro-Caribbean is happening right now on Ross Street north of City Hall. The Mayor brought greetings on behalf of Council following the flag parade. Good music and plenty of food and I formation booths. It continues until 8:00pm and again Sunday 12-6pm. Come and see.

Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary I joined back then as a way to inform or advocate for certain community issues. Since I retired from Council I do not post as often. Interestingly we golfed twice last week at Alix and at Trochu, both 9 hole courses. FUN.

Day has finally come - the long awaited demolishion of the former Club Café and the Buffali Hotel. A good portion came down this afternoon. Sad to see.
