#OnThisDay in 1897, artist Mainie Jellett was born. After initial training in Dublin and London, in 1920 she went to Paris and studied under André Lhote and Cubist painter Albert Gleizes. Her painting 'Decoration' caused furore at the 1923 Society of Dublin Painters group show.
