Mobile brownbag day one more time 🎉. Today Simon Vergauwen talked about accessibility. The talk was awesome, touching and enlightening for me. I truly believe we should grow awareness of accessibility needs in any company we work for. Thanks Filip Maelbrancke for the slides! 👏

Now Zerodium is paying $2.5 million for Android full chains (iOS chains still at $2M) as Google/Samsung have considerably improved their security. iOS chains (1-click) e.g via Safari reduced to $1M as there’s a bunch of them on the market, sad but true. mobile.twitter.com/Zerodium/statu…

In collaboration with 335 top level scientists and multiple non-governmental organizations, I have drafted and signed an open letter that meticulously underscores these significant risks and presents concrete suggestions for mitigating these issues. nce.mpi-sp.org/index.php/s/cG… 🧵1/7

Europe is maybe two months from passing laws that end private communication as we know it, and folks are looking the other way (understandably.) You’re not going to get a do-over once these laws are passed.

The Belgian presidency has drafted yet another tweaked #chatcontrol proposal. In summary, the proposal remains completely unacceptable. TLDR: All the problems pointed our in our open letters are still there nce.mpi-sp.org/index.php/s/eq… & docs.google.com/document/d/13A… 🧵1/6

The European Council has taken a proposal to force mandatory scanning of all photos and videos sent through private messengers (including encrypted messengers like Signal) and they’ve rebranded it as “upload moderation.” The implication is that it’s voluntary when it’s not.

EU apparatchiks aim to sneak a terrifying mass surveillance measure into law despite UNIVERSAL public opposition (no thinking person wants this) by INVENTING A NEW WORD for it—"upload moderation"—and hoping no one learns what it means until it's too late. Stop them, Europe!

European Council: We’re debating a historic law that will massively change the privacy expectations for 447 million people, and create a surveillance regime unparalleled in world history. European press: The only articles you’ll see about this are random blog posts.
